Are You a Light and Example to the World?

Being a Light to the World May Require Wearing a Lifejacket -- Through spiritual leaders God places in our lives or through impressions we receive during our prayer and Bible study, God may seem to go beyond the requirements of His Word by instructing us to do something or refrain from doing something. Because all things are permissible but not all things are beneficial, God may be protecting us from some permitted things that are not beneficial, which is like wearing a lifejacket while still on dry ground.

Are You Thoroughly Equipped to Do All God Has Asked You to Do?

The Best Tool is Already at Your Disposal -- The apostle Paul explained to Timothy, his son in the faith, that scripture is given to us that we may be “thoroughly furnished unto all good works.” (2 Timothy 3:16-17.) It is a tool that prepares us in every way to do every good thing God wants us to do. We have this very effective tool at our disposal. Are you fully equipped to do all God asks you to do by actively using it?

What Good is a Dull Sword in Your Hand?

Two Ways to Keep the Sword of the Spirit Sharp -- The apostle Paul taught the church in Corinth that we fight a spiritual war, “casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ.” (2 Corinthians 10:3-6.) Our only offensive weapon for fighting the war is “the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.” (Ephesians 6:17.) And that word is “quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, . . . and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.” (Hebrews 4:12.) But a two-edged sword is only sharp if its handler sharpens it.
